Title: The Burning Bush MSTERA School
Price: Available on Request SOLD
Size: 12 ¼” x 10 ¼” x 1 ¼”.

The Icon is even signed by a painter, which is extremely rare and also dedicated to a sacred family event. Photos are far from the original. The icon is hand painted over a leaf of gold on a wooden kovcheg (recessed) board in one of the moist famous for icon painting places in Russia village Mstera. Needless to say, that most Nicholas II family icons were painted in this village. The icon is a very good exemplar of Mstera School Iconography. Dimensions: 12 ¼” x 10 ¼” x 1 ¼”. There was a minor vertical crack on left part of icon, which was professionally repaired recently. Fortunately, the painting wasn’t suffering much from the crack. Translation of the back writings: “This Icon, by the Name of Burning Bush Empress of Heaven, was Created in year 1910 by God’s Slave Iakov Anikin (first & last name of painter) in January 7th”. Continuation below the lowest slat: “Blessing to God-Child C… (illegible writing, daughter’s name) Daughter of my Brother A… Anikin”. What is also interesting and important, that the date on the icon, January 7th, is the date of Christmas in Russia. In all means, it is a very important Icon of museum quality Mstera School of Painting. Shipping and insurance are additional and depend on your destination.
