The icon represents Mother Maria Vladimirskaya, the most venerated and oldest image among all icons in Russia. This is a very good example of a famous, but rare find School of Mstera icon painting. Mstera (a small village not far from Moscow) stands out by very fine details and very different, contrast succulent colors, and bright gold. You have to concentrate your attention on small, but extremely fine details like long palms, fingers, nails, hairs, eyebrows, eyes. That live impression on very gentle face of Mother Maria. I can go on, on and on. The icon has a double kovcheg. The condition is very good and visible on photos. I date it last quarter of 19th century. The photos are good, but still not close to expression that original piece giving you, when you hold the Icon in your hands. And dont forget, the quality of image depends on computer and monitor you have. This is really a brilliant piece by all means.
