In 1872, on the initiative of Vasily Alexeevich Sheremetev *, the "Imperial Society for the Reproduction of Hunting and Game Animals and Proper Hunting" was established in Russia, which was under the supreme patronage of the Romanov Imperial House until 1917.
In the same year of 1872, a special sign of a member of the Imperial Society was established.
Moscow Society of Hunting named after Emperor Alexander II was formed on the basis of a hunter's circle in Moscow. The purpose of the creation of the Society was to preserve and ennoble the rifle hunt, "hunt Jaegers", as it was then called.
The 56-grade gold Jeton has the same last name as the 6 pointed badge.
It also bears the Imperial Crown and the State eagle which means it was given by the Emperor's Cabinet but 3 years earlier than the badge.
What it was given for is unknown.
