This embroidered pillowcase circa 1900 use to belonged to the last Russian Empress. It was in the family. Alexandra use to put this very pillow under her arm or body to comfort herself during reading or conversations with her friends, children, or Nicholas II. Her 5 children might have played with this lovely pillow too. There is a possibility, that Alexandra embroidered it herself or some part of it. They were taught embroidery that time. And I’m almost sure; she made the design herself. This is real museum importancy and rarity piece. Worked in gold threads with the imperial monogram of the empress Alexandra Feodorovna below the Imperial eagle; also worked with foliage on a dark-cherry damask ground. Excellent condition.
